Melissa lives in a lovely rural setting in an old stone farm house surrounded by vibrant landscapes. Her studio is framed by windows looking out onto dazzling golden fields, towering pine trees, a flourishing apple orchard and a natural pond. She spends her summer on a lake in northern Ontario where she spends her days painting by the lake and local waterfalls. Melissa paints with and around her twin girls and in between living “life”.

Melissa creates her own botanical inks from foraged plants and then adds in thread, pastels and marks in ink. Melissa’s abstract landscapes reflect the colours of the seasons, the lines of the hills surrounding her studio and the trees dotting the horizon.

Melissa’s digital abstract landscapes reflect the strong pull of the natural world encircling her. Melissa “thinks in paintings” and crafting digital art is an immediate way to transfer her thoughts. Creating digital art is also a natural progression in Melissa’s sustainable art practice because her process generates zero art-material waste. Melissa’s fine art prints are printed by PosterJack, a 100% Canadian company dedicated to using water based, eco-friendly inks on the best photo rag on the planet.
